A console table is the easiest surface in the house to style badly. Too many small objects and it reads like a junk drawer with legs.
Divide the surface into three zones
Think left, center, right. Give each zone one job and one dominant height.
Left: the tall anchor
A lamp or a stack of books with a vase. This is the tallest element and it should sit roughly at one third of the console width.
Center: keep it empty
Leave the middle clear. That open space is where mail, keys and a coffee cup land, and it is also what makes the styling look intentional rather than crowded.
Right: the low object
A bowl, a small sculptural piece, or a short stack of two books. Nothing taller than half the lamp.
Art above, not centered on the wall
Hang the art centered on the console, not on the wall, and keep six to eight inches between the frame bottom and the tabletop. Two leaned frames of different sizes look more collected than one perfectly centered print.
Test it from the doorway
Stand where guests stand. If the arrangement reads as three shapes rather than nine objects, it is finished.
